Catching behind the plate is more than just sitting back there with a bunch of cool looking gear on. You have to be the leader, the backstop for the pitcher, the "extra" coach on the field. It can be challenging and demanding at the same time but very rewarding.
In my lessons, we will go over the physical AND mental aspects of the game. Some of the areas covered are three Stances (sign giving, nobody on and runners on bases), Receiving, Blocking, Fly Balls, Fielding Bunts, Balls on the Screen (passed balls and wild pitches), Plays at the Plate, Throw Downs to all bases and proper Throwing Techniques. We will also cover the mental parts of the game such as what pitch to call for, when to call for it, how to "read" a hitter, and when runners will try to advance.
To start lessons today, check the lessons calendar for current openings then complete a "Reserve a Slot" form. For more information go to the contact us page and either submit your question/request for call back or call me. Each catcher must have their own gear.
